Just weeks after a horrific Bronx bus accident that killed 15 people, two different passengers on the bus that were seriously injured have filed lawsuits against the bus company and the bus driver regarding their injuries and experiences.
According to CNN News, 74-year-old Yuke Chue Lo is suing bus company World Wide Tours and bus driver Ophadell Williams for $20 million following the fatal accident. Lo suffered a traumatic brain injury and a skull fracture in the crash – serious injuries that required multiple surgeries and that will require months or even years of rehabilitation. Lo’s New York personal injury attorney claims that the bus driver was speeding on the night of the bus wreck and could have fallen asleep at the wheel.
Another passenger, 53-year-old Erold Jean Marie is suing the bus company and driver for $200 million in damages. Marie’s bus accident injury lawyer has stated that the doorman suffered shoulder and back injuries and that he has also suffered severe emotional damage from both the accident and the aftermath.
The deadly New York bus accident took place on March12, though investigators are still unsure of what caused the wreck. The bus driver has stated that he swerved to avoid a passing 18-wheeler that was drifting into his lane, but some witnesses claim that the driver was drowsy at the wheel and could have been speeding. An initial look into the bus driver’s background found that he had made false statements while applying for his commercial license. His license has been suspended.
