Two people are dead in two separate New York City car accidents that took place at the very same location near the Queensboro Bridge. The fatal car accidents have many wondering if the off ramp where the crashes took place suffers from a design flaw or other related issue.
In the first car accident, which took place on March 28, a driver exiting off of the bridge and into Queens lost control and crashed into a row of businesses along the street. A pedestrian, a 68-year-old taxi driver, was killed in the accident.
In the most recent car accident, which took place on April 6, a driver lost control of their vehicle in the same exact place and crashed into the same exact set of stores. In this crash, the driver suffered a partially severed arm and was rushed to a nearby hospital in stable condition. The passenger in the car, 40-year-old Beatriz Rodriguez was rushed by emergency responders to the hospital suffering from a traumatic head injury, but died later that night from her car accident injuries. The driver of the car has been arrested for operating a vehicle without a license.
The two fatal car accidents took place just two weeks apart. The owners of the shops along the dangerous Queensboro Bridge off ramp and exit, all of whom are dealing with extensive property damage, are demanding the city to look into why these accidents took place and how future accidents will be prevented.
