A man from New York had been arrested in connection with a 124 mph ride through Franklin County, PA. The chance between Joseph Johnson-Glove, age 35, started when the man tried to elude police and nearly ran over several pedestrians on Interstate 81 in a construction zone.
Johnson-Glover's erratic driving made several vehicles go off of the road when he tried passing them on the shoulder of the highway. In a 55-mph construction speed zone, Johnson-Glover was exceeding 100 mph. Once out of the construction area, he continued to speed up to 124-mph in a 65 mph zone.
At one point, the vehicle intercepted a tractor trailer which nearly caused an interstate collision. Later, Johnson-Glover exited the interstate and nearly hit a motorcycle head-on. Johnson-Glover continued escaping police and entered Maryland. He drove into oncoming traffic and eventually crashed into an unoccupied trailer parked on the roadside. Johnson-Glover tried to escape on foot but police pursued the suspect and was captured by a Chambersburg, PA police officer and a state trooper from Maryland.
Johnson-Glover was charged with eluding police, recklessly endangering another person, careless driving, accidents involving damage, various maximum speed violations and traffic infractions.
Police in Pennsylvania and Maryland are asking the public for help in identifying those who were forced off the road during the chase.
