Head-on Car Accident on Bear Mountain Parkway Ends 27 Year Old's Life

On Friday, December 9^th, a head-on car accident on the Bear Mountain Parkway in Cortlandt, NY ended in the death of a 27 year old passenger. The parkway was closed for over 2 hous while police investigated at the scene.

The driver of a 2012 Nissan Altima, a 55 year old man from Cortlandt, was traveling the Bear Mountain Parkway in the westbound direction, while the 24 year old driver of a 2008 Nissan Altima was traveling in the eastbound direction. The two cars collided around 6:00pm.

A passenger in the 2008 Nissan, age 27, died from his injuries at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt. The driver of the 2008 Nissan was treated at the same hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the 2012 Nissan was treated for non-life threatening injures at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY.

The car accident is under investigation, and the names of the victims has not been released as their families have not all been notified yet. It is not known what caused the 27 year old's death at this time.
