On September 21st, a fight over a parking spot ends in a face wound caused by a box cutter. Truck driver Eustace Brown was backing a box truck into a space on E. 86th street, but before he could pull safely into the parking spot, a Volkswagen Jetta pulled in and parked. The driver of the Volkswagen and the truck driver from Brown's Trucking Services exchanged words in a shouting match - and the truck driver went to his vehicle and took out a box cutter. The truck driver's assistant, Joseph Smith, reported that he grabbed the weapon from his boss before he could do anything with it.
A near by fruit vendor said the truck driver shouted at the Volkswagen driver, "What are you going to do?!" and then the Volkswagen driver punched Eustace in the face. Smith said his boss threw a few punches back, and then the Volkswagen driver pushed Eustace up against a bus, and slashed his face with a box cutter of his own. The fruit vendor indicated the would started from the top of Eustace's head and went all the way down across his face in a gory wound.
The passengers of the Volkswagen Jetta then called to the driver, "Let's go!" and they all returned to the car and fled the scene.
The truck driver was treated at the local hospital and is expected to survive. Police have not released a description of the Volkswagen driver, who was not found or arrested after the incident.
