Car Accident Attorney Reports: New York Traffic Accidents Take 2 Lives on Sunday

Posted on Nov 17, 2011

On Sunday, November 13th, two accidents in New York city resulted in two deaths, one taking place on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and the other on the Van Wyck Parkway.

Van Wyck Parkway Car Accident

A man driving a BMW in the southbound lane of the Van Wyck Parkway around 2:15am lost control of his car when attempting to make the Atlantic Avenue exit. Witnesses report the car was doing about 80 miles per hour on the Van Wyck Parkway, and that he never slowed down when he came off the exit ramp.

His BMW hit a blue post office drop box, which was knocked out of the ground, and then a tree in front of the Jamaica Hospital and proceeded to burst into flames. The driver was trapped inside, and burned beyond recognition according to the police. He was pronounced dead on the scene, and his body was moved to the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. A near by deli cashier said he heard the collision – and glass and car parts were found as far as 100 feet from the car accident.

Brooklyn-Queens Expressway Motorcycle Accident

Around 2:30am on the same day, a man driving a motorcycle slammed into the rear-end of a sweeping truck on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. The driver of the truck, Pearlie Felder, said his foot was on the brake but the impact of the motorcycle literally moved the truck forward.

Both the truck and motorcycle were heading east on the expressway, toward the Queens Boulevard exit and had to slow down for another car accident up ahead. When the truck stopped due to the backing up of traffic in the road, the motorcycle slammed into the back of him.

The driver of the motorcycle has not yet been identified and died on the scene.
