Brooklyn Man Victim of Hit-and-Run Jaguar Accident

A 51-year old man was critically injured in Brooklyn when an unidentified driver plowed him over in a pedestrian intersection recently. The driver left the scene of the accident, leaving the pedestrian at the corner of Atlantic and Franklin Avenues.

The driver was said to be driving a white Jaguar. The victim was described as suffering a head injury and was listed in extremely critical condition by police reports. However, further reports have listed the victim as having passed away due to his injuries. The NYPD is still looking for the driver who fled the scene in the Jaguar. The victim's name is also not being released for confidentiality reasons.

The latest story of a hit-and-run accident highlights the importance of not only driver safety but also pedestrian safety. While pedestrians should have the right of way in a crosswalk, many drivers still are oblivious to what is going on around them thanks to the increase occurrence of cell phone use and texting. Other distractions including media and entertainment packages available in many modern vehicles also have been found to cause distractions that leave pedestrians and other drivers at risk.

With summer here and more pedestrian on the streets, vigilance is key to survival. Pedestrians should not take for granted the road is clear without checking and drivers need to set aside distractions that can take their focus off the road.
