On Saturday, October 29th, Muhamed Kebbeh of the Bronx died in a construction accident when the building he was working in for a demolition job collapsed. Kebbeh, age 51, was buried under 6 feet of building rubble when the basement pillars of the 2-story commercial building collapsed and the building fell. The New York Police Department said two other construction workers in the building escaped without injury.
New York Firefighters attempted to dig Muhamed Kebbeh out from under the collapsed building within 10 minutes after it collapsed, with about 50 Firefighters from Division 6 responding to the construction site accident. The Deputy Chief said Kebbeh was hurt badly and buried under 6 foot of bricks and other building materials.
Muhamed Kebbeh was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Initial attempts to identify the owner of the building have so far proven unsuccessful.
