I was injured in a construction accident. Are there any steps I should take before filing a claim?
A: Although every construction injury claim is unique, there are certain steps you can follow to help your claim:
- Enter the details in your employer's record book as soon as possible. If someone other than you enters the details, be sure to review what is recorded.
- Collect names, addresses and phone numbers of anyone who -witnessed your accident
- If possible, take photographs of the location of the accident as soon as possible as well as photos of any machinery, tools, vehicles or anything else that may have been involved
- Photograph and document all visible injuries
- Write down ALL details of the accident as soon as possible and include all details that led up to the accident
- Consult a workers' comp doctor, or your doctor, to document your injuries and conditions
