Staten Island Construction Worker Crushed By Dump Truck

On November 20, a Staten Island construction worker was killed by a dump truck while building a new section of Richmond Ave. in New Springville that will connect to Rivington Ave.

Staten Island Police say that 53-year-old Jody Reese of Tottenville was out of view of his coworker who was driving the dump truck in reverse. The driver backed over Reese with both his back and front wheels. Although EMS preformed CPR on Reese at the scene of the accident and then rushed Reese to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze, doctors pronounced him dead soon after arrival.

Workers continued to lay down the street after the construction accident though the southbound lanes of Richmond Ave. were closed to vehicles during the afternoon’s police investigation.

Police say that the NY construction site death was a tragic accident and that there would not be any criminal charges.
