NYC Construction Worked Receives $2.8 Million Settlement After Traumatic Brain Injury

A New York man was awarded $2.8 million in damages after he suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) while on the job at a Bronx construction worksite. According to court records, the worker was tiling a wall in a New York City Transit Authority train station when a temporary light in the station fell onto his head. In addition to the traumatic brain injury, the man also suffered from a subdural hematoma and several herniated discs in his vertebrae near his neck. It was determined that the Bronx on-the-job accident, which occurred on 161st Street, was due to the negligence of the NYC Transit Authority and should have been prevented.

While the Bronx jury decided to give the man $2.8 million in compensation for his New York construction accident injuries, the amount was reduced to $1.6 million. The New York City Transit Authority is expecting to appeal the court’s decision.
