New York Jockey Loses Fingers In Snowblower Accident

A New York horse jockey will be unable to compete in races for at least a month after he suffered from a serious snowblower accident at his home. According to several reports, the athlete, 54-year-old Jean-Luc Samyn, was cleaning debris out of the snowblower blades with the machine turned off and the power cord unplugged when the blade cut off two of his fingers and broke two other fingers. The man told reporters that he hopes to be back on his horse by late spring.

It is unclear what exactly caused the accident or whether the snowblower manufacturer was at fault for the accident. Further investigation into the accident could reveal whether the injury could have been prevented if not for a lack of warnings, poor snowblower design, or a snowblower defect.
