Bronx Boy In Critical Condition After Traffic Sign Strikes Him On Sidewalk

A preschool-aged boy is in critical condition after being struck by a traffic sign. NYC Police say that the four-year-old boy was walking to school with his mother when a NYC car accident caused the sign to fall.

The Monday morning accident resulted in Joshua Delarosa being rushed to at New York Presbyterian Hospital Columbia with serious injuries. His mother, Romula Fernandez, suffered minor injuries in the pedestrian accident.

The accident took place at the intersection of Broadway and W. 230th St., where witnesses say a city truck cut off a livery cab, causing the cab off of the road and into a pedestrian crossing sign. Both the truck driver and the cab driver helped on the scene. Neither has been charged or cited.

A number of pedestrian accidents occur in New York City when a car involved in a traffic accident swerves off the road and onto sidewalks.
