Are construction workers safer in New York City than they were last year? New reports show that although fewer
NYC construction workers were killed so far in 2009, many more injuries were reported across the city.
Compared to the same time last year, construction site accidents are up over 40 percent and construction site injuries were up by over 30 percent. However, deaths are on the downswing. There were 2 deaths reported in 2009 from January to June, compared to 19
on-the-job construction deaths in 2008 and 12 construction worker deaths in 2007 in New York City.
